MYUNG-SUN KIM will be completing her time as our Aritst-in-residence for the Winter Island Program. Myung-Sun Kim’s current work on the evolving cultural culinary practices and cuisine of Korea, explores food as a way to tell stories of history of war, migration, colonialism, resilience, and healing. She will be working with guest artists Luisa Milan and Adrian Dilena on a special experiential dinner to end her residency.
Her performative installation feast will explore the idea of mythical consumption, where alchemy, healing, and transformation can be gained through food, and the cooking process reflects various approaches in processing memory, history, and trauma. Through a collective experience of eating and sharing a feast in an unconventional setting, the project seeks the possibility to create a transformative experience of healing and caring through a constructed edible landscape that provides a deeper connection to food.
There is limited capacity for the feast, so be sure to let us know if you would like to attend by RSVPing. The feast will start around 5:30pm and cost $10.
We will be arranging a shuttle with the artscape van.
