About the Exhibition

Jetsam Warp
Chris Foster + Melissa Fisher-Rozenberg
Sept 16 – Dec 31, 2017

Artscape Gibraltar Point long term studio tenants Chris Foster and Melissa Fisher-Rozenberg present Jetsam Warp, a collaborative exhibition in Gibraltar’s Main Hall Gallery. This work, which came into fruition upon the reopening of the Toronto Islands, explores thematic crossovers in the artists’ respective practices. Jetsam Warp puts forth selections of found objects collected by each artist as part of their studio processes. Beach garbage, architectural detritus, process offcuts, flotsam and jetsam – are reconfigured and recontextualized to create alternate realities within this immersive, site-specific installation

About Manimal Sanctuary

Manimal Sanctuary is a lurking simulator. It leverages low-end VR technology to enable every player’s ultimate fantasy: to play a creature part coral reef, part Cthulhu, who consumes human emotions. Set on the Toronto Islands after the rest of the city is consumed by gibbering monstrosities, you eavesdrop on the survivors and their dramas involving things like bad potato crops and graffiti tags. And if those everyday emotions aren’t filling enough, you can always uncover some devastating secrets…
