Winter Island Artist Project Residency  – Bike Island Mural Project

Join Artscape Gibraltar Point in putting the pedal to your paintbrush with our inaugural Winter Island 2018 public workshop & event, hosted by Artist-In-Residence, Jeff Nachtigall.

For this one-day-only project,  Nachtigall has adapted his Mobile Painting Device to turn a set of specially modified bikes and trikes, into ride-able paintbrushes.

Hop on a bike,  make your mark, and contribute to the creation of a large-scale mural celebrating the unique bicycle culture of the Toronto Island Community!

This mural will be displayed as part of the 2018 Winter Island Exhibition to be held at Artscape Youngplace May 27 – June 9, 2018.

There will be three painting sessions and workshops:

12:00 Noon (Ferry Departs City at 11:00AM, arrives at Ward’s Island at 11:30AM)*

2:30PM (Ferry Departs City at 1:30PM, arrives at Ward’s Island at 2:00PM)*

4:15PM (Ferry Departs City at 3:30, arrives at Ward’s Island at 3:50PM)*

Transportation to and from Ward’s Island Circle will be provided free of charge via our vintage AGP Island City Bus! Look for it – you can’t miss it – once you have disembarked the ferry.

*Ferry times are based on current operating schedule (reduced service due to ice) as of January 4th, 2018. Please check back for any updates, as they are made available. in the event of a change we will attempt to adhere as closely to these times as possible.
