Welcome Niklas Agarwal

Artscape Gibraltar Point is happy to announce the hiring of our new Hub Manager Niklas Agarwal.
Niklas takes over for our departing Andrew Lochhead, who after nearly seven years of outstanding community building and project development is leaving to take a well deserved summer off before beginning his PhD in Media & Design at X University this fall.
We wish Niklas all the best in his new role and hope all of you in our extended island community will welcome him as one of our own! To Andrew we also wish the best of successes in his new academic career, and thank him for the many years of dedicated service to Artscape, and Artscape Gibraltar point in particular.
To learn more about Niklas, please read on:
Niklas (he/him) was born and raised in Tkaronto/Toronto. Growing up, he fell in love with the chaotic-unplanned feeling of his city. After graduating from The University of British Columbia with a BA in Geography, Niklas moved back home wanting to reconnect and make a difference. He comes to this work with a background of growing up mixed-race in a rapidly gentrifying city on a warming earth, and was called to action through the IdleNoMore and youth climate justice movements. He is passionate about the intersections of art, climate justice, and organizing. His career has brought him across Canada around the world. Some projects he’s particularly proud of are helping run an arts festival in rural BC, working on a sustainable shipyard in Rotterdam, NL, and working with young people across the GTHA to develop their leadership through projects that tackle urban and climate related issues. He’s a huge lover of food, nature, and public space and can usually be found on a bike or traveling for two hours on the TTC (pre-covid) to get to that great food spot.”
Again, congratulations and welcome!
