Alchemy 2020: Food, Art, Garden, Table
Alchemy is an international artist-led residency devoted to exploring the synergy between artistic practice and the sharing of food in community settings. Since 2015, nearly 70 artists from around the world have come to Alchemy at one of its two locations — the Toronto Islands and in rural Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. Alchemy Island will be our only traditional programmed residency in 2020.
A community setting for inquiry and discovery
Shared meals, readings, and discussions probe the creative intersection of food and art in a community setting. Guest talks from artists, chefs, and makers help us better understand the magic and inspiration created by making and sharing art and food.
This residency brings together selected artists working in a variety of mediums ranging from visual arts, sculpture, photography, craft, food, performance art, writing, and video. Participants share their work and practices while also contributing culinary creativity to lively salon-style communal discussions and dinners.
Alchemy Island 2020 will be facilitated by two long-time collaborators for this work: Claire M Tallarico and Tonia Di Risio.
